Georgia Emergency Associates (GEA) was founded in 1994 to provide emergency physician services at Candler General Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Brian J. Kornblatt, MD, FACEP, is the founder of GEA and serves as president and CEO. GEA formed Medical Billing Associates (MBA) in 1995 to bill for and collect GEA's professional fees. By 1999, GEA had established itself as the premier provider of emergency physician services in southeast Georgia, and was asked to take on two additional hospitals in the St. Joseph's/Candler Health System network. Appling Hospital in Baxley, Georgia, was added in February, 1999, and was staffed until November of 2006. In March of 1999, we added Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, Georgia. On October 1, 1999, GEA took over staffing the emergency department at St. Joseph's Hospital, the south-side campus of the St. Joseph's-Candler Health System. This consolidation of the staffing of the two departments was a natural continuation of the merger between the two hospitals into an integrated healthcare system. In July, 2001, GEA and St. Joseph's/Candler Health System opened The Immediate Care Center-Midtown at Eisenhower and Commercial Drive in Savannah, GEA's first effort at non-hospital based urgent care. In December, 2003, after a brief hiatus, GEA resumed staffing East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA. In November, 2004, GEA began providing emergency physician staffing at Coastal Carolina Medical Center, a brand-new facility in Hardeeville, SC. We terminated our services there in May, 2008. In August 2007, GEA began providing service at the Brunswick campus of the Southeast Georgia Health System, out largest contract outside Savannah. We added their Camden Campus in January of 2008. GEA's clinical staff currently numbers 52 physicians, 24 physician assistants, and 15 nurse practitioners staffing 6 hospital emergency departments and one urgent care clinic. Our non-clinical staff includes a registered nurse providing full-time risk-management/quality assurance support. GEA is always happy to talk to physicians, PA's, and NP's interested in joining our expanding group of emergency medicine professionals. If you are interested in joining a stable, independent, democratic group with solid benefits and a collegial work environment, contact us at 912-691-1533, or e-mail us at pbashlor@geamba.com. |
